How to use this

• What it builds

  Three spot-the-difference puzzles in one download, climbing from four differences to six to eight, with an answer key on the last three pages. The answers matter for more than marking: a child who is stuck can be shown one difference instead of being told them all, and a child who finished can check their own work and see which kind of change they tend to miss. Missing shapes and size changes are the usual ones, and the key labels every difference by kind, so an adult can say 'check the sizes' instead of giving the answer away.

• Ready when

  Any child who can name circles, squares, triangles, diamonds and stars and can look at two pictures side by side. Start with the easy puzzle at five and move up a page when it feels comfortable.

• How to run it

  Print all six pages, or only the puzzle pages and keep the answers back. Pages one to three are the puzzles, easy first. Pages four to six are the keys in the same order. Let the child circle what they find, then count, and only then look at the key together. Both UK (A4) and US (Letter) paper sizes print from the same download.
