How to use this

  • What it builds

A hundred dots is a real test of sustained attention. The child has to find each number among close neighbours, hold their place when they look up, and recover when they lose it. Counting to 100 is a milestone for this age, and a connect-the-dots page makes it concrete: the whole numbers from 1 to 100 are laid out in order around one picture, with every tens number a landmark. The fish has a smooth body and a sharp, notched tail, so the shape confirms progress along the way.

  • Ready when

A child who can count to 100, is comfortable with the dot to dot 1 to 50 sheet, and enjoys a longer puzzle, usually seven or eight. For younger children this is a good adult-and-child page.

  • How to run it

Print one copy. Show the child how to check their place by tens: 10, 20, 30. Let them work in sittings, since fifteen to twenty minutes is typical, and pause at any tens number. A ruler helps keep the lines neat but is not needed. If they lose their place, they can count back from the last tens number. Colour the fish afterwards. Both UK (A4) and US (Letter) paper sizes print from the same download.
