  Thirty dots pushes well past the range where a child can glance ahead and guess the shape before finishing — at this density the fifteen-point starburst's spokes sit close enough together that only careful numeral-by-numeral tracking keeps the lines from crossing into the wrong point. That makes this page less about counting itself (a child this age already counts well past 30) and more about sustained attention: finding each next number in sequence among thirty closely spaced labels without losing the thread. It's the same 'harder, not different' step the hard maze in this library takes — older kids who've finished the 1-to-20 dot-to-dot and still enjoy the format get a genuinely tougher version of exactly what they already like, instead of being pushed into an unrelated activity.

• ② Ready when

  Best for a child around 8-12 who already finishes the 1-to-20 dot-to-dot easily and wants more of a challenge, not a starting point for the format — younger children should use the 1-to-10 or 1-to-20 sheets in this same set first.

• ③ How to run it

  Print one copy and let them work through it independently — part of the challenge is finding each number among thirty labels without help. Eight to twelve minutes is typical. If a line goes to the wrong dot partway through, encourage them to keep going rather than erasing — a wrong turn near dot 22 is still useful practice, and the shape distortion it causes is itself an interesting thing to talk about afterward.
